The Chain by Adrian McKinty

Kylie is standing at the bus stop waiting for the school bus, when a guy walks over to her with a gun pointing at her head. He tells her to do what she's told and she won't get hurt. There is know one else around yet. She is walked to a car that waiting after he hang cuffs her. He helps her into the back seat and the woman driving takes off. He has also put a blindfold over her eyes.

Rachel is on her way to see her doctor. She's guessing that the news isn't good if her tests she had done, didn't quite turn out to be okay. The next thing she knows, she gets a phone call with an unlisted number calling her. She answers the phone and the caller has it's voice muffled. It tells her to pull over on the road, and listen to what she has to say.

She pulls over and sits there. They call her back and says that she has her daughter Kylie and that she'll kill her if she doesn't follow the instructions she's going to give her. Rachel is having problem with this. Something like this, isn't something happens everyday.

The person on the phone at first tells her to write this all down. First she needs to send $25,000 to an account online of bitcoins. Next, she needs to find a kid herself and kidnap him or her. It's called The Chain and the chain needs to continue. After Rachel wrote all the information down, she tries to have them let her talk to Kylie. It doesn't happen and they hang up on her.

She calls the doctors and says can't make it. She makes her way into town and over to the bank. It's not quite open yet. Someone comes over to her and askes her, if she's Rachel. After she says yes, he hits her in the stomach. She ends up on the ground from not expecting it and someone from the bank had seen and asks her if she's alright.

After the doors open she talks to someone about getting a loan. At first it doesn't work. Then, when she says it don't matter how, he gives in. She heads home to get on her laptop to send the money. Now, she's got to figure out whom she's going to kidnap.

It bothers her a whole bunch. But, the person threating to kill Kylie isn't something she's had to deal with before.

Yes, she does what she is told. She brings in Pete her ex husband brother to help her. It's a crazy thing and it has to be over as quickly as she can get it to be over. There are a few problems. You'll have to read the book to find out how it ends. It's a pretty good book. Made me want to continue to read it to find out for myself. Pick up the book and find out for yourself.

This Fallen Prey by Kelley Armstrong

This is the third book in the Rockton series. Casie and Eric Dulton are out do somethings away from town, when they hear a plane landing at the small airport. They are told by the pilot that they are getting a prisoner and his name is Oliver Brady. They are handed a letter and reading it, they aren't happy. Thay don't have a way to hold someone that's this dangerous.

When they call Phil, he just tells them that they will have to figure it out. Taking the gag off his mouth just tells them that he will try what ever he can to make him seem like he's incent of whatever the letter says. Then, they take him for a walk a little ways into the woods when gun fire starts. They think someone is trying to kill him and maybe someone has hired a sniper.

One day or so after that, Oliver is getting sick real bad and it looks like he's got poisoned. They pump his stomach and Val asks to sit with him. They don't know that he has a plan to escape. Which he does. He takes Val with him making it look like she's a hostage.

Casie and Eric do go out looking for him and they decide to go speak with Brent and see if he can help them, but when they get there he's been shot and dying. Eric needs to find his brother Jacob and see if he's seen him. When they run into a few other people out and they just let them pass without a problem. Later after they've settled down in their camp, they hear a woman scream. They find three people dead and a girl soaked in blood.

The end of this book, I didn't see coming. you'll have to pick it up and read it. It wasn't to bad and it moved at a fairly good pace.
