Maven Blackthorn left her hometown of Solstice after her mother fill to her death. Now she's on her way back with her daughter Bea. Her grandmother had died and she was asked to come. She hadn't been there for over twelve years. She also knows that her teenage lover is still there. Ronan Crowl. His family is very rich and both of their families don't get along.
What she doesn't know is that there has been a mystery going on in the town for a long time. People have been coming up missing and no sign of them has ever been found.
She meets Q at the train station and she and her daughter head to the Blackthorn Manor. Her Aunts are waiting for them. Esme and Davina are the only ones left besides her and her daughter. The next day they all head to the funeral home for her grandmothers wake. Their sitting in the front role when Elijah Crowl come rolling in on his wheelchair. He begs the aunts to take the curse off his family. They both just look at him sideways.
Later, that night Maven notices someone at the gate smoking a cigarette. It's Ronan and he's as handsome as he can be. She goes downstairs and outside. She tries not to get to close to the gate. He says one thing to her, that she looks really good, which gets her body reacting to it. Bea is his daughter and she has never told him that part. He reaches in through the gate and grabs her. Gives her a really passionate kiss. It sends all kinds of electrical charges throughout her body.
The next day, she runs into him again and this time she tries to brush him off. But, that doesn't seem to be working. He tells her to come by his house because they need to talk. She knows if she does, she won't be able to keep from letting him have her. Everything within her body wants it so badly and she remembers everything from the past few times they have done it.
Maven keeps telling Ronan that she hates him, but that's not even close to the truth. She really has only ever loved him. With all the strange things going on in the town. Her seeing things and Ronan sometimes acting strange. She wants to find out what is really going on.
I'll say this, you'll never guess the ending to this book. It's very good and worth picking up. Warning: there is some sexual scenes is this. so it for over 18 years or older.
