Library of souls by Ransom Riggs

 

This is the third book in Miss Peregrine's peculiar children's series. If this was a great way to end a trilogy this would be one hell of an ending. It was very good. 

Jacob and Emma are on their own after the other children were taken by wights. They need to go and get their friends back and Miss Peregrine. They have to find out a way to save them so they are safe. Addison is a peculiar dog that can talk. He has a great nose and will help them sniff out where they were taken. They are also being followed by a hollow. These things you can't see with your naked eye, but Jacob can see them. He's been learning how to control them and tell them what he's wanting him to do. 

Hollows can kill you if you can't see them and his grandfather was just like Jacob. He could see them too. 

After leaving the subway, they found their way down to a boat ramp. There was this guy dressed all in a strange black cloak. He kept dropping rats out of it. Jacob asked if they could get a ride to Devil's Arc. His name was Sharon and he did boat tours. At first Sharon didn't want to help them. They finally said they could pay him but, didn't have the gold right now. He thought about it then said, sure. 

With them in the small boat, being also that they were out in the open. Because they were with Sharon, the real normal people couldn't see them. Things are always different when it comes with the loops. Where they are heading, its not a good place. 

Things ended up happening after they arrived in Devil's Arc. People here weren't nice. They were looking at them. Sharon told them both to stay close. Ambosia is addicting and many of the people here use it. What Jacob and Emma find out is that its the souls of Peculiar children. Which makes Emma quite upset. They are waiting for Sharon and they wonder off. They find the castle and a long bridge but, before they can figure out a way to get across they are attacked. 

Jacob is hurt quite badly. Emma is hurt too. After that everything goes dark. They bought to meet Bentham. He's the brother of Caul and Miss Peregrine. He explains to them who he is and right off the bat, Emma doesn't trust him. The healer did heal Jacob and Emma. 

Devil's Arc is a very dark and dangerous place because the Wight and hollows live close by. Caul, is crazy and the one thing he wants most is to find the Library of souls. He believes that it will give him great power. With someone like that it makes it even more important to get everyone back and safe. 

Will, you'll have to read the book to find out what happens. I'll just say this, its a great ending. A good over evil story is always great. Pick it up.

Elsewhere by Dean Koontz

 

Jeffy Coltrane had his wife Michelle leave him 7 years ago. He has their daughter Amity and she's 12 years old. They love fantasy books and spend a lot of time reading together and talking about them. They don't live life without doing the tings they love. Amity and her mouse Snowball and spending time on the beach. They live what you would call a normal life. 

Ed or what Amity calls him 'spooky Ed,' shows up on the doorstep and talks to her dad. Something is a little strange about this guy. He seems to be always looking over his shoulder and never comes tell after dark. Ed, begins to tell Jeffy about something that doesn't even make any since to him. He asks him to take this box and hide it somewhere, where no one will find it and if he doesn't come back for it in a week. He's to take it and throw it in the ocean after barrowing it in concrete. Ed, then leaves. 

Jeffy doesn't know what the hell is going on and he takes the box in the house. Puts it in his office when, Amity comes in and asks him what it is. Jeffy, is a little curious about it himself. Even though he was told not to open it, he does. Its some kind of cellphone or something like that. Then, there's a knock on the door and its loud. After hiding the thing, he heads for the door.

A few guys, all dressed in black are standing on his porch. One has his ID pulled out and says, ' I'm John Falkirk from the National security agency. Were here looking for Dr. Edwin Harkenbach he has stolen something that doesn't belong to him. Have you seen him?' Jeffy doesn't know how to answer that question but, he knows he shouldn't lie. So, he tells him he saw him last night but, he's not here. Falkirk tells his men to search the house and that they know what he's looking for. The move into the house and begin to search the house. 

Falkirk isn't what he seems and Amity ends up saying something snotty to him. If it was up to Falkirk, he would teach that girl a listen and he would love it. He doesn't care about them, he wants that hand held machine that can take him places that aren't part of this world. Its called, elsewhere. Different, plains of the same world with some that are dangerous and some that aren't. 

His men didn't find anything and they lift. Jeffy, knew now that what Ed gave him was something dangerous and he wasn't sure what to do about it. He would go about his day and later on after everything was calm he would get it from his hiding place and check it out. Amity, had snowball with her and they were at the kitchen table. 

As much as he wanted to protect her from things. He didn't know how much their life was going to change. He had the thing sitting on the table and was looking at it. When snowball walked over to it and stepped on it. Amity and her dad were touching each other and then, there was a light. They ended up jumping to another house that was theirs but, wasn't theirs. This was strange. Amity went looking around after sticking snowball into her pocket. There was nothing here that showed she ever lived here. Someone was outside mowing the lawn. This was weird. She looked at her dad and said they they needed to go back home. Jeffy, didn't even know how to do that. 

He had to go get some book that Ed had wrote and being that they are somewhere else. They didn't know if this was a good place or a bad place. They do find that out. All hell breaks out and they end up in danger. 

Well, I'm going to leave you with a cliff hanger here. You'll have to read the book to find out what happens. I'll add this. Falkirk is a really bad guy playing as a good guy. He just likes to kill people for pleasure. The book was interesting. Nothing like what you might think it is.

Fated by Alyson Noel

 

This the first book in The Soul Seekers series. The book was really good. Something different then, what I'm used too. 

Daire is a 16 year old girl with her mom, traveling around the world for her mothers job as a make-up artist. Jeenika is her mom. Things with them have been okay at time. Daire, keeps having problems with seeing things that don't make since to her. She sees, ravens and shadow like people and it freaks her out. She doesn't know if she's going crazy or what. 

She and Vance this boy she sees while he's working on this movie where there are, is getting something to eat, when things start to happen. After a time, she faints or something like fainting. When she wakes up, she's tide down and her mom is sitting close by. She doesn't know where she is but, she doesn't like what's going on. She asks her mom what is going on and her mom tells the other lady in the room to get the doctor. Tell then, her mom just tells her that she's just going to have to relax. Like, that's going to happen. 

Once she hears from the doctor and hears what he has to say, she's not happy. She doesn't want to go to no mental hospital or take medicine that will mess with her. So, after leaving, her mom drives them to where they are staying after taking the trip home on an airplane. 

The phone in the house rings and its her grandmother Paloma calling. Some how she found out what is going on and talks her mom into letting her come and stay with her in Enchantment, New Mexico. She tells her mom that she can help Daire. She's going to have her friend Chay meet us and drive me the rest of the way. 

Jennika, her mom isn't so sure of about this whole thing but, for now its the only thing she can do. 

At first, Daire doesn't want to be there and ends up running away. She also ends up getting hit by a car, where she is bruised and has a broken leg. So, the idea of leaving didn't go quite will. She does have a few talks with Paloma who explains who her dad was and why he died before she was born. Something that her mom didn't explain to her very will.

She also finds out that she's a soul seeker and a very strong one. Paloma is going to teach her as much as she can, but Daire notices that she keeps having nose bleeds and becomes worried that something is wrong. 

She also meets Dace and Cade, they are teens. She doesn't like Cade and she finds out the Dace is nicer and good. Something evil is going on and Cade is a good reason, along with his father. Things end up happening and its not good. But, I'm not going to share what happens, because I want you to read this book. I'll tell you this, the ending will grab you and you'll want to continue to read tell the book ends. Its also wanting me to pick up the next one in the series but, I'm going to wait a little while then, I'll get it.

Note: I'm going to tell you guys something. I only read the book. I can't listen to audiobooks so my honest opinion of the book is from reading it. There is nothing wrong with listening to a book. I just love the feel of the book in my hands and its easier for me to enjoy and understand the stories I read. So, sometimes it will take me a little longer to read some book.

The Priory of the orange tree by Samantha Shannon

 

This is a 800 plus page book. Another fantasy to add to my list of books on here. I will add that its a pretty good read. Its a story about a queen that believes she can save her kingdom from an evil that has been sleeping for 1000 years. 

We meet Ead Duryan while she's working for queen Saban the ninth. She was sent to the kingdom to protect the queen. What she doesn't realize is that things aren't what they seem. She see's many things that don't agree with her and the beliefs she has. What she also doesn't know is how she really feels about the queen. 

One night she kills someone that is trying to kill the queen and she hides it so that she isn't spotted in doing it. Its not like she's afraid of what might happen to her, she doesn't want the queen to know its her. 

Loth, is her good friend and when he's sent away to do the queens business. Things in the castle become unsettled. He and his good friend Kit go together to see Estina Melaugo in the Yscalin in hope to make peace some how. It doesn't go will. 

Niclays Roos is a bad guy, he holds a grudge against Saban for sending him away. He wants to get off the island he's on and it will happen but, not in the way he thinks. Pirates roam the seas and he will meet a not so good one. 

Aubrecht Lievelyn, is going to marry Saban and its up to them to make a baby girl. She will be the one to save them from the nameless one that's surposed to come back. It will not be good. 

Saban ends up losing her consort and the baby. In the process bad people are trying to take her thone. Its up to Ead to help her deal with it but, having a relationship with the queen is more dangerous then, she knew. She loses everything and the queen all in three hours. Its not going will for all. 

I hate to inform you, but if you want to know what happens to them all. You are going to have to read the book. I will say that some things got me upset and some things got me angry. Over all, the book was good and long. I'll give you this teaser, there is a happy ending in a way. There are many other charaters in the book. Just read it.

Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick

 

This the fourth book in the Hush, Hush series and the last one. I will say that this was a great read. 

Patch and Nora are still together and if you don't remember what happened in the third book. Nora and Patch had killed her father Hank. Nora is now a Nephilim and surposed to be the head one because she took her fathers spot. 

Dante is Hank's second and he's wanting to help Nora with dealing with the other Nephilim. He tells her that he's going to help train her so she can get stronger in case there is a war between them and the fallen angels. Which is what Patch is.

What Nora doesn't know is that there might be something that could cause her a problem. Dante and a buddy of his, have been crafty something called Devilcraft. It makes you feel stronger and give you a slight blue tone. Something that Nora learns the hard way about. The more you take of it the more you want it and after she gets stabbed one night she starts to have problems. Its really missed up.

Patch tries to help her and gets her something to reverse the devilcraft. She protends to drink it but, doesn't. 

Down the road she finds out that Dante has plans on trying to take her spot as leader. She doesn't know all of what he's wanting to do but, her and Patch have plans. They will do the one thing to keep all her kind safe. 

If you want to know how the story ends. Pick up the book but, remember to read the other three first.

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

 

This is a new take on the history of Dracula. Told by the young teenage girl who lives with her father. Her father, Paul, travels all over the world for his foundation. One day while she's at home she's in her fathers den and sitting on the desk is some papers and a book. She opens the book and the only thing inside it it a picture of a dragon. She is curious but, isn't sure she should ask her father about it.

Her father Paul, has been raising the young girl on his own since his wife Helen had left or disappeared. Its up to him to raise her and protect her from the bad things in the world. What he doesn't realize is that she will be the one to help him find the one thing he wants, his wife, Helen. 

His daughter starts asking him questions. she wants to know what the book and papers mean. So, he does what he knows best and starts to tell her stories that are true. Dracula is one charater that has been written about a few times. But, he doesn't explain that to her. He starts with his time when he was young and still studying at the university. 

He begins by telling her about his Professor Rossi. How smart he was and how he told him about the meaning about the book he has. He also told her that he disappeared right after doing that. He explained that he had stopped looking into the meaning of Dracula for a long time, but that wasn't true. He wanted to find Helen and knew that there was only go to be one way to do that. It was for him to continue looking for Dracula and in doing so, he might get lucky and find his wife, Helen. 

The story pretty much tells you in letters that her father had left for her to read. What her father doesn't know is that she decides to try and find him. Is she smart enough to figure the whole thing out and find out where her father is or will the danger of doing so cause her harm or death. Maybe, her father can't be found. You'll just have to read the book to find out. 

Its an almost 700 page book and it can get a little slow at times. I think its worth reading.

Sorry, it took me so long to get this post up. I had been sick so, its hard for me to read.

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

This is book two of the mortal instruments series. I will say that this was a great read for me. 

Clary is back with her friend Simon. Jace, Alex and Isabelle are at the church they use as a shadowhunters head quarters in New York city. Clary has been staying with Luke after her mom has been in a coma of a sorts. 

Maryse is in the library when Jace walks in on her. She begins to question him about what has been going on. Each time he answers she doesn't believe him. They aren't going to see things the same way and Jace always has this attitude about pretty much everything. Then, when Valentine is brought up he becomes a little diffensive. She pretty much asks him to leave.

The Inquisitor is coming and she has  a problem with Jace. She wants to question him concerning his father which is Valentine. I'll just say this, it doesn't go will over will with him and she decides to lock him up. But, before that happens, Jace has gone to see his father. Because of what he knows. 

His father has killed all the soul brother for the sword they have. He wants to bring a very large amount of demons to take out the clave. The clave is what creates the laws for all the shadowhunters. That isn't going will for Jace because he will never join his father in any way. 

The Inquisitor ends up using special swords to lock up Jace. As will as a magic pair of handcuffs. Her idea is to trade him for the two special things that Valentine has. Jace tries to tell the Inquisitor that Valentine will never do that. Because of her hatefullness towards Valentine she isn't listening to him. 

Things are only going to get worse and it does. 

You'll have to read the book to see what happens and how it ends. I'm not going to spoil it for you. I'll just say this, I really wait to pick up the next one. Remember to pick of a good book, you never know what you might enjoy.

The Guests on South Battery by Karen White

 

This is the fifth book in the Tradd street series. Melanie has been married to Jack Trenholm for almost a year and they have twins. Charleston is a beautiful southern town. She's having problems trying to figure out if she can leave her twins home. Jack tells her that it will be fine. 

Jayne Smith is waiting in Melanie's office when she arrives at work. When she sees her, she looks like someone but, can't place it. Her and Jack have been wanting to find a nanny again. 

Jayne starts telling her that she has inheritated the house on South Battery street. Melanie knows that house was, Button Pinckney's house. She says she didn't realize that anyone could be so nice but, she doesn't like old houses and would rather sell it and get something more modern. Melanie tells Jayne that she will get ahold of her friend Sophie. They can go look at the house together. 

She offers Jayne to come and meet Jack, Nola and the twins. From all the things she told Melanie about how good she is with kids. 

Their first visit to the old house, seemed like it was going to be fine. Sophie was waiting by the door for us. After pulling up and getting out of the car. The first thing they saw was a black cat. Her and Jayne saw the cat and Sophie said she didn't. That was just the start. After walking through the door, Melanie had this feeling that they were being watched. She knew there was something there but, couldn't seem to see it. 

Jayne seemed to be nervous and didn't really want to do anything. I think she just wanted to leave. There was diffenently something about Jayne that Melanie couldn't figure out and for some reason it felt like she was being blocked by something like when she was pregnant with the twins. It bothered her but, also didn't. Melanie was never one to open herself to spirits very easliy and it took her mother to help her deal with it. 

Jayne is really good with the twins. Jack has been having problems writing and isn't sure why. His daughter Nola has been having problems writing music too. Jayne gave Sophie promision to renovate the house. Melanie's mom and her decide to head over to the house and see what they can find out about the spirits. When they arrive, they see the cat. The house doesn't feel right but, they both go in after Melanie unlocks the door. They both feel who ever it is. Her mom says, that there are more then one spirit here. What they don't know is who, but they can guess. 

Up in the attic, her mom, is looking at a few things when a sheet that was hanging down goes from there to around her mom's neck. Not good because it starts to choke her mom. It takes a few to get it unwrapped. 

Well, that's all I'm going to say. Don't want to give away the ending. I'll just say, pick up the book and read it. Its really good. The author is a great writer. 

Remember to always try new author, you never know you might just find something worth reading more then once. 

Crash by Lisa McMann

This is the first book in a new series. Its also a very fast read. Chapters are very short. 

Jules, Trey and Rowan Demarco all live above their families pizza restraunt. Sawyer Angotti and his family have their pizza restraunt across the street and neither one of them get along. Something happened quite some time ago to cause this. 

Jules has been having visions of a crash and explosion. She doesn't understand why she's seeing this right off the bat. As time goes on, she is starting to see it more places. Its starting to drive her crazy. In some ways she thinks she is going crazy. 

Trey, her older brother keeps asking her if she's alright because she's acting weird. Going to school is getting hard because every where she is, she sees Sawyer. She's been in love with him since they were kids and because of the problem with their two families she can't been seen with him. 

In the visions she keeps seeing. there are nine body bags and in one of them is Sawyer. She needs to find some way to save him. So one day, she finds a way to talk to him and warn him about the crash. He doesn't seem to believe her. In a way, she thinks that he thinks she's crazy and acts like its nothing. He also tells her that they shouldn't be seen together. 

When the visions get so bad, she fakes it like she's really sick. She starts taking notes on everything she's seeing. She's wanting so badly to be able to save Sawyer. She even, tells him that she loves him. Which doesn't seem to mean anything to him. 

Well, I hate to make this so short, but because of how this book is. I don't want to give the ending away. You'll have to read the book to find out what happens. It wasn't a bad book. Maybe, slightly slow tell you get farther into it.

Hidden by P.C.Cast and Kristin Cast

 This is the tenth book in the House of night series. Zoey and her friends have finished the reveal and are heading back to the house of night. They can see smoke coming from there and they aren't sure what's going on. Neferet has been at the house to do one last ritual. She had killed a cat. 

Professor Lenobia and Travis are saving all the horses. He gets burned but Lenobia has a strange thought running through her head that he reminds her of someone she used to love. That brings on a strange thing that causes her to feel again. 

Thanatos is the new high priestess of the house of night. She is one of the high counsels special vampires. They are to make their judgement over Neferet and they do. They shun her. Which doesn't bother Neferet one bit. Because she has chosen darkness over good she just wants to cause problems.

Kalona has changed who he is but, is still struggling over his discision. He has desided to be the new head warrior and protector of the school. This will be his biggest challenge. Aurox is the beast that has tried to kill Zoey and did kill Dragon. It was sad and he didn't realize that Zoey did what she could to keep that from happening. 

One morning Zoey's grandma was setting everything up for her ritual. She was doing a protection spell when Neferet showed up in front of her and attacked her. She bound her with the evil strands and took her with her. Later, in the day, Aurox came by the house and he sensed Neferet and knew that Grandme Rainbird was gone. He needed to get back to the school and tell Zoey and them what had happened. He knew it probably wasn't going to be easy. He was hated.

Erin, their one friend has been changing and ended up getting together with Dallas, who's one of the evil red fleddling's/ This didn't go over will for Zoey but, she knew she wasn't going to be able to trust her. 

Well, I'm going to leave it there. Your going to have to read the book to see how it ends. I will say it was a little slow but, the end was good.

Outfox by Sandra Brown

 

FBI Agent Drex Easton has been hunting and looking for Weston Graham for about twenty years or so. He has been wanting to take him down for killing his mother. Gil Lewis and Mike Malloy are his partners in crime. They have been helping him for years and they are FBI agents too. 

Jasper Ford has been waiting for his wife to come home from her trip. Drex had decided to head to Charleston in hopes to watch and see what's going on in the house next door to the place he rented for a few months. He had the idea that this Jasper was the person he was looking for. What surprised him, was that the guy had gotten married. He hadn't met his wife yet. 

Jasper has invited him out on a cruise, on a friends boat. There he will be introduced to his wife. He was excited but, knew he needed to be careful. After arriving and getting on the Yacht. He was introduced to the owner, Elaine. A few minutes later, he saw his wife and knew he was in trouble. She was a knock out, her name is Talia. 

Their cruise around the water was good and Drex spent a little while trying to ask and avoid as many questions as he could. He was really having a problem. He was very attracted to her and everything in him wanted her so badly. But, she was with a crazy person for the moment. 

Later on the night after he got home, he had already put a listening device in the kitchen so he could here what they were saying. They had talked about getting together one more time for dinner but, because he didn't know that many restraunts he needed a list. What he didn't know was that in the morning he was going to have a visitor. 

Talia showed up at his door. She was wearing jeans and to him they showed every curve of her body. He thought, "damn," he wanted to take her right there but, couldn't/ He was there to get Jasper. He knew that Jasper had killed nine women so far. She had come to give him a list of restraunts. 

Well, I'll say this. The ending of this book will surprise you. Because it surprised me. Loved it. But, when it comes to this author, I've never been disappointed. You'll have to pick up the book and read it.

Stalking Jack the ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

 Audrey Rose Wadsworth is in her Uncle Jonathan's laboratory helping him work on a dead body. This is the one thing she wants to do the most. But, her father isn't quite happy about it. She is to join her uncle's class today to hear what is being discussed. First she needs to go home. She didn't want to face her father but, she knew she had her brother to back her. Nathaniel always helped her out. What she didn't know was that her father was still greiving concerning her mother's death. 

In her uncle's class she sees Thomas Cresswell showing off. He's seems to notice her from the front of the class where he's explaining a few things that her uncle was presenting. By the end of class he comes over to speak with her. He acts like he knows more then she does. They don't really get along at first. She gets up and leaves to head back to her uncle's Lab. 

Earlier in the day, the newspaper had said there was a murder of a women in Whitechaple. Her uncle and her are going to examine the body. What she doesn't know is that Thomas is bringing some stuff to her uncle's as will. That's when things become weird for her. At first she doesn't like him at all. She is ready to do what she's been doing with her uncle for some time tell, he takes over doing her job. 

The newspaper has been calling the killer leather apron. But, his true name is Jack the ripper after they get a few letters signed by him. At first they start to think that her uncle is the killer. They even put him inside an asylum. That's when she meets the Superintendent Blackburn. She doesn't know what he's wanting of her. He tries to help her. Then, she finds out that her father is willing to let Blackburn court her for marriage. 

That doesn't go over very will. Next, her father is taking something that is a drug for sometime now. He was caught on the east side and told to go out to the cabin to deal with it. He left Nathaniel in charge. 

Her and Thomas have been trying to figure out the murders. It seemed that each one is getting worse. Plus, they are all whores. She knows that finding the killer is going to be dangerous. 

If I say anything more, I'll blow how it ends. I'll just say, if you haven't read the book. You might want too. It will surprise you. It all comes into view as the killer comes into view.

The Mummy or Ramses the damned by Anne Rice

 Lawrence Stratford is in Cairo Egypt. He was uncovering the tomb of Ramses the damned. He knew that he was Cleopatra's lover and teacher. He was in the chamber working on understanding one of the scrolls. He thought he was alone but, he kept hearing some strange breathing. Then, Henry his nephew shows up in the chamber wanting him to sign something. Simar is a good friend of his and was dealing with reporters outside. 

Henry made coffee for Lawrence and handed it to him. What Henry didn't know, was the mummy had seen him dip into one of the containers that had poison in it. Within a few minutes Lawrence was on the floor dead. 

A few days later, they put him to rest. They also brought all the stuff to Julie's house. She is Lawrence's daughter. She always liked Egypt and wished she could go back there. 

Elliott was the Earl of Rutherford. His son Alex is surposed to marry Julie. With Henry back in town and Julie in charged of the business now. Her uncle wanted to meet with her. He wanted money to give to Henry to make sure he stays out of the way. Henry is a drunk, gambler and Loved sex. 

One morning Julie got us after hearing noises downstairs. She found Henry helping himself to a drink. He wanted to speak to her. Some time earlier the day before, they had removed to cover to the coffin. What Henry didn't know was that the mummy had seen everything he had done in making Julie's tea. He was getting ready to hand it to her, when the mummy started to move. Within a few minutes, the mummy had nocked the cup out of Henry's hand but, also tried to choke him. Henry go free and ran out of the house. Julie stood there frozen. 

The mummy just stood there looking at her. Julie didn't know what to do, she was frozen. She knew she needed to do something and it wasn't going to take long before the cops showed up. Getting this handsome, blue eyed male to understand was going to be interesting. Then, he spoke. It was in a language she didn't know. 

Well, you can only guess what is going to happen. Love, sex and murder. All the things that makes up a good book in my opinion. If you haven't read this. You should. Its very good. I'm not saying or describing anything more. I enjoyed this a lot.

The Black witch by Laurie Forest

 

This is the first book in the Black witch chronicles. Elloren is five years old when her uncle Edwin testest her with a wand to see if she has any magic. When something ends up happening her uncle pretty much says its a fluck. 

When she's older, her aunt Vyvian comes to visit and tells her that she's leaving to come stay with her for awhile and then, she can go to college. Rafe and Trystan are her brothers and they are heading to the same place as her. She has been told a few times that she looks like her grandmother who was the black witch. Whether that's a good thing or bad we'll just have to see. 

The night before she leaves, she sees Sara coming towards her. She holding a wand in her hand and gives it to her. Its called the wand of myth. What ever that means. 

Her aunt lives in Valgard and she's watching out the window as thing pass by. She had seen a Selkie and asked her aunt, which doesn't really want to explain any more then, that they are slaves. At her aunts house she see's a few Uricks who are workers. There are so many different races it hard for her to keep up. 

Fallon Bane is a fifth level mage and has a really bad attatude. I don't think she like Elloren much. That really shows when she meets Lukas Grey, a very handsome guy that her grandmother wants her to wandfast to. Which means she marries him. Which she has promised her uncle she won't for a few years. 

One day, she goes to church with her aunt and then, sees a few things and walks out of the church. When she does, she gets attacked by Icaral's. Then, to find out that she's got to stay with one in the tower.

I will warn you now that there are a like of prejudice and discrimination in this book. You wonder what's all going to happen next to Elloren and if she's ever going to make any friends. She does have one problem with a guy in the kitchen, that just hates her because of her looking like her grandmother. Yvan is very handsome and he just doesn't like Elloren seem to bother her. 

At the college, people just keep looking at her and some even do things to her to cause problems. She kisses Lukas once and all hell breaks loose when Fallon finds out. Things just seem to get bad. 

Whether, it gets any better You'll have to read the book. Being that this is only the first book in a series. I think you might get a hint that things continue. 

Its good. Hope you pick it up if you haven't yet. Remember to read a good book. You might just like it. 

Sanctum by Madeleine Roux

 

This is the second book in the Asylum series. Dan, Jorden and Abby are dealing with nightmares after coming back from their summer at Brookline. Dan got a letter from Felix's mom asking if he'd be willing to come and see her son. Something about him wanting to speak with Dan, did bother him after Felix trying to kill him. So, after telling his friends, he goes. Felix's mom comes and gets him. 

The long drive gets him thinking about the past and wondering what is really going on. When they arrive, Felix has been waiting patiently. Felix was mumbling and saying things about, follow them and other things that didn't make any since. He was also given a piece of paper with numbers on it. This wasn't making any since then, the thought came to Dan about the college. Oh hell, he thought. They are going to have to go back the where they didn't want to go. He knew his friends weren't going to be happy.

All three of them had to lie about where they were going or their parents wouldn't let them. They all have been having problems sleeping and having bad dreams. Their hope is that going back will help. 

Once they all arrive at the school, they meet a few of the people that will be guiding them to different places to check out. Mostly what Dan wanted to do was figure out what those numbers were and then, figure out what's going on with them. Jorden has always been smartest of the three of them and Dan knew he would figure it out. 

They were led into the area where they were going to eat lunch and something about this kid not far from them, was making Dan feel funny. Then, that kid started to say his full name, over and over again. Jorden was going through his phone and found out what the numbers meant. They were address's. They were going to have to find them and check out each one. But, they needed to figure out how to do it without getting noticed. They were being watched. 

They get away finally. Find the house and break into it. They go threw as much as they can. On the first floor they notice that someone is looking into the window wearing a red cap and hood, with a mask. Jorden notices that the shoes look like this kids, Cal's. They take off out of the house and back to the school. 

Later that night their in the library. Jorden was looking up things on the computer and found things about secret societies. It didn't make them feel good, then the computers shut down. That wasn't good and maybe someone wasn't wanting them to find out anything. 

Professor Reyes, is teaching a class in the Asylum. Dan's not sure what to make of her. 

In the long run things all come to the head. It may be a big mystery but, you'll have to read the book to find out if it get solved. Many thing are said and found out. It holds your attention. A real page turner.

Bloodleaf by Crystal Smith

 

This the first novel in a new young adult series. I'll give this a great rating in my book. I enjoyed this book a lot. 

Aurelia is a princess In a city that's run by people that have set laws to kill witches and she is one. She, hasn't learned exactly how to harnish  it but, she knows that she can see the dead. She is going to be sent away to marry a prince from another kingdom. It had been set up since she was a baby. Her mother hopes that it will save her. 

Kellan is her protector and when Simon comes from Achleva. Her mother makes a deal with him to do magic that will keep her from dying. So, they prepare to do it and it will take three. Simon, her mother and Kellan all make a pact to do die in her place. 

Toris and his daughter Lisette are waiting on her, her brother and Kellan to show up at the meeting place they arranged. The horses were ready and so were they. What Aurelia didn't know was that things were about to take a really bad turn for her. Toris, decided he was going to kill her and Kellan. It didn't quite work out the way he thought. He did stab Kellan and he ended up in the water, She had finally got away on Kellan's horse, but she had a problem. After getting to the other city where the prince was, she couldn't get into the city because its protected by a spell. She didn't have the papers to get in any more.

Realizing she didn't have any money she needed to figure out what to do. She ended up getting into trouble, her horse was taken by a guy named Zan. She didn't know what else to do. She wondered around outside the gates until Zan offered to make her a deal and help her inside. She wasn't happy. She did finally take him up on it. 

She was bull headed and didn't want to do anything for him. After having some sleep and a meal, she needed to find a job. That didn't turn out as will. She got attacked by three men and ended up using Blood magic to cause them harm. Zan, saw what happened and his friend that was with him carried her to his home where his wife Katie helped nurse her back to health. 

Zan told her a story about someone trying to destroy the magic on the wall. He wants her to help him find a way to keep it from happening by using her magic. He shows her secret ways to not be scene, by using tunnels under the castle. She gets books to study with his help. There is also something going on between them, but she can't let that happen not yet. So she ignores it. 

Bad things do happen, can she tell him who she really is. Because he only knows her as someone else. She also doesn't know that he really is the prince. 

The story is fast pasted. Makes you wonder what's going to happen next. I love a page turner just as much as anyone else. Try the book.

The curse of Misty Wayfair by Jaime Jo wright

 

This is book has two time lines. About 100 years difference. 

Thea Read vowed to find her mother so She's come to Pleasant Valley, Wisconsin. She meets Rose and Simeon Coyle who have their sister Mary's photo taken after she dies. Later on, she meets Mr. Amos who owns a photo studio and asks if she can work for him so she can pay for her room and board. Things become weird when she starts to here stories about the ghost of Misty Wayfair. 

One night while looking into the forest and listening to the water in the stream she sees something in the woods. Like, a mist or something she can't make out. Things in this small town aren't making since and she decides to check it out. First place is the asylum. She wants to know why it was built and if her mom was ever a patient there. 

She get promession to look through papers. But, does she find the truth.

Heidi Lane gets a letter from her mom telling her to come home. She isn't sure she should after not being home for quite some time and her sister Vicki isn't easy to deal with. Partly because her family has always been church going people and she never really believed it for herself. 

She shows up in town and heads for her families lodge. She's not sure how her sister is going to take it when she just shows up. Being they don't really get along and she has some problems with getting into trouble some what. She knows it just has to do with, she knew she was different. 

Things around her become weird when her room at the lodge gets broken into, then, there's a fire in one of the cabins she's in. Where her sister tells her to leave. In the process, she meets Emma, Rhett and their mom who takes her in and is willing to help her find out what is really going on. She finds out from her mom with help from Rhett that she's really a Coyle. 

This is when the story really starts to get good. You'll have to read the book if you want to know how it ends. I will tell you this, its a good book.

House by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti

 

This is one oh my god book. A mix of horror and thriller. It makes want to know what's going to happen next. I will say this, I was surprised how this book started and went all the way through to the end. Plus, I've not read a book that brings evil and good together quite like this. 

Jack and Stephanie are trying to get to Montgomery. They end p lost and run into a cop. The cop asks them where their headed and Jack tells them. The cop gives them directions and the leave to follow. Down the road some distance from where they had come their tires are blown out from under them. 

Both, Jack and Stephanie are married but, have been having problems. That will just cause more problems with them in the long run. They begin to walk down the road, tell they say a house that says inn on a sign. Thinking that they can use the phone they head for the door. Once inside they meet two other people, Leslie and Randy. They tell Jack and her that the same thing has happened to them and they came upon this house. But, they haven't found a phone. 

After looking around some, they get surprised by finding out that there are three other people in the house. Betty, Stewart and Pete. To all four of them, these three seem a little odd. Boy, is that an under statement. Betty is creating dinner or it seems like that. When they sit down to the table, they realize that the food is crawling. After that, all hell breaks out. 

A few minutes later a can is thrown through the window and inside it, there's a note. It reads, ' Give me one body.' To the four of them its really weird. Randy asks Betty what's going on and she says, ' all sinners must die.' They all take off running. But, just before that. Betty worns them not to go into the basement. 

There is so much going on in this book. I can't give you to much. But, I need to worn you. This book will make you wonder if something like this could really happen and what the hell would you do in their place. Some of the decisions made will shock you and make you think, what the hell are they thinking. Read the book if you dare.

Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah

 Dr. Julia Cates is a child psychiatrist. She is heading to court over a case of a girl shooting and killing a few kids. She knows she should have seen it coming but, she didn't. The judge through the case against her out. That doesn't stop her from thinking that maybe it was. She tells one of the families she's sorry but, knows that's not really going to help them.

Ellen Barton is Julia's sister and chief of police in the town of Rain Valley Washington. Its a small town. Cal and Peanut call Ellen to tell her that they have a problem and that she should get down to the park. She wants to know what's going on but, they tell her she needs to come and see for herself. 

When she gets there. There's a dirt and very young girl in the tree on a limb and she's holding a wolf cub. Ellen can't believe her eye. She's not even sure how she got there. Doesn't know who she belongs to but, needs to find out where she comes from. 

Dr. Max Cerrasin is the doctor that exams the girl when she is finally brought in. They have to strap her down to keep her from hurting others or even herself. She's so small and dirty they have to clean her up some. Looks like she's been abused and tied up. 

Ellen makes a call to her sister Julia. Explaining that she's needed her in her home town and that she's the only one that could help this girl. Julia's not so sure. After what's she's gone through. But, she packs up and travels there. When she shows up. The first thing she wants to do is see the girl. 

Ellen has her meet Max. He fills her in on what he knows and she goes and looks in on the girl. She curled up on the bed and still strapped down. She tells Max that they need to move her some where else. So, she can get to work. Julia knows that this may take awhile. Ellen's job is to see if she can find her family. They are calling the girl, the wolf girl. 

After moving the girl, she attacks Julia and has to be given a shot. Julia is a little upset over it but, know she needs to figure out how to get through to the girl. 

It does take time. Its vey slow. Ellen and Julia decide to name the girl Alice. Ellen has had a few press conferences. It hasn't helped find out who she is. Tell one day a guy walks into the police station. Telling them that he's the girls father and that her name is Brittney. 

Being that this is happening, Julia knows that she may lose Alice to her father. 

I'll add this, this book was sad, happy and some very sweet moments. You'll have to read the book to find out how it ends. This is my first time reading this author. The writing and story was very will done.

Midnight sun by Stephenie Meyer

 

This book is another twilight but, its in Edward's perspective. He tells his side of the story. Bella is still there though. You get to see through his eyes and hear all his thoughts. 

I will say this to all those that are huge fans of the original story. You might see that Edward seems to act and seem like he's obsessive when it comes to Bella. In many ways he is. He doesn't understand at first why he's so interested in her, when he's wanting to take her life. It comes down to how strong her smell is. 

When Edward first sees Bella, the first thing that goes right to him is her smell. Its like a drug to him. His thoughts were bothering me. His thinking about ways to kill everyone in the classroom just to get to her. It is sort of crazy. His thoughts don't make since to me at times. 

After him and Emmett go hunting for three days, he finally goes back to school to face her. He's not sure he's going to be able to control himself, but he wants to find out. Plus, the other thing that is bothering him is, he can't hear her thoughts. He can everyone else's but not hers. He tries very hard to ask questions so that he can figure her out and ends up being wrong at times. The conversation is strained because of him not knowing what she thinks. 

He can't tell her any truths, at least not yet. After the almost death of her from getting squished by the van. He tries to avoid the her questions. 

The other thing that peaks his cerousity is how many questions she seems to know the answer too. Things he says to her just makes it seem like he's from a different time and she becomes more interested in him. 

His interdialongue is interesting to read. Makes a lot of things that had gone on in the orignal book come to light more. Some people may not like the book or think that its just to much. You'd have to figure that out on your own. Read the book, it might give you some answers but, it could also not make you happy to read how he is really.

The way of kings by Brandon Sanderson

 

    

This the first book of The stormlight archive. Its over 1000 pages long. Its quite good.

Kaladin is a slave. Brought to the Shattered plains as a bridgeman. He suffers from depression and has to deal with things differently the most. He doesn't want to be where he is but, has know choice. He has Sly that's been with him for quite awhile. She keeps trying to bother him and talk to him. Sometimes he talks back and other times he just sits there not saying anything at all. 

After some time, he starts to make the other bridgemen notice him and some even join him. It takes time to gain trust. He also goes through being beat and then hung up during a highstorm to change who he is. As you continue to read you will see all that he does. 

Shallan, She's a young woman on a mission. She wants so badly to save her family because of debts they owe after her father dies. She travels to meet, learn and maybe steal the one thing that will help her family. Jasnah, is a princess and working on trying to help out her uncle and find the truth about what's really going on in her world. 

Well, Shallan do what she came to do? You'll have to read to find out. 

Dalinar, is a highprince. Just one of many. Here's there with his sons. He wears, shadeplate and carries a shadeblade. He's good fighter, but he has been having strange visions that his sons think he might be going mad. Is he or isn't he? With a war going on for over six years there will be strain happening. 

I think what they all have in common, is they need to deal with the life they have brought upon themselves. 

There is always good vs evil in all stories and it will be up to you to figure out which it is. 

You will have to read this book to get a lot of the answers. I'm not going to give away to much or it would spoil the book. I'm off now to start my next book.
